Great advice. I would also like to add that there are sights that feature a hugely discounted "daily deal." Just sign up for the emails, and you will get one each day with a new deal. I live in the city (San Francisco), and periodically, I will venture out into the suburbs to source inventory if there's not much garage sales going on locally. That's how I discovered my favorite thrift store.
