  2. I think it's great someone with only five years of e-bay experience and only 2800 feedback is doing so well. My 7800 feedback attests to a few more years as well as hard work. All of us who haunt estate sales have great buy/sell stories. My $1.50 purchases which turned into $70, $760, and $1,559 sales are ample evidence. A friend bought three diaries at an estate sale for $5.00 each and after submitting them to a "well advertised auction" received a check for $17,000. My $2.00 coffee can sat in the basement for a couple years before I discovered $2,700 worth of Japanese Yen in the bottom. The truth is, these are great, they are fun, and they are the exceptions. If you find something at a yard sale for $1.00 and it sells for $10 you didn't make much for your time, even if it sells for 10 times the purchase price. Good photos, good descriptions, responding to questions and shipping can easily take an hour per auction. It takes time and effort, and it can definitely be worth it.

  4. Thanks for the comments! If an item is going to take me an hour to list, it better be worth some cash.

I can list about 9 $10 items an hour - I've timed myself several times. If I make even $7 an item, that's pretty good since it will take another hour to package them. I definitely recommend passing on items that take a long time to list and can only be sold for $9.99.
