What sells on eBay? Well, Da Bears are hot! Vintage Chicago Bears jackets sell on eBay...for a ton!
So I had this shiny nylon Chicago Bears Starter pullover / jacket thing in my eBay closet. (Can you tell that I'm not into sports?) It was in perfect condition, but I just hadn't gotten around to listing it. Since it was made in Korea and looked like something someone at my high school might have worn, I figured it was probably vintage.
Well...this morning I got motivated. I got up early, made coffee, turned on the Christmas music, and started looking through the many, many items that we still needed to list.
I decided to research this awesome piece. I had a hard time finding this exact pullover, but I found a number of satin jackets that looked very similar. I discovered that vintage Chicago Bears Starter jackets go for quite a bit of money! Recently, a satin Starter jacket in an XXL went for $110!!! Here's the link: Satin Jacket
Several of the ones that had sold for the most had the word Ditka in the titles. I happen to know that Ditka is the last name of Mike Ditka, a famous player. (I've seen him in quite a few commercials. LOL)
So I listed the pullover as a three-day fixed price item with free shipping for $59.99 or best offer. (If someone wants to buy it as a Christmas gift, they are not going to want to wait for an auction to end.) Not sure if this product will go for as much as the satin jackets, but I'm glad I got my act in gear and got it listed!

Can you educate me please? How does "Made in Korea" indicate that it's vintage. What time period would it indicate?
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance for the info.
Thanks for reading! I'm guessing it's an 80's jacket based on the style and the fact it was made in Korea. Most new merchandise I encounter is made in China - not all, but a lot of it. Items made in Taiwan, Korea, and Japan tend to be vintage. It also has a yellowing tag. Hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense. Thanks for sharing. I really enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteI have to ask the question in curiosity that had you waited to list it to see if they made it to the Superbowl this year, would you have made more $?
ReplyDeleteI owe you one. Thanks to your blog I just picked up a satin Starters San Francisco 49er's jacket at a yardsale for $2.
ReplyDeleteI finally had to break my New Years resolution to stop buying. I couldn't take it anymore. :-)
Awesome! I sold one of those to someone in....I think it was Australia!!
